“Indianapolis enjoys such a wonderful jazz legacy that is recognized and celebrated around the world. Jazz stars in its constellation like Wes Montgomery, Freddie Hubbard, J J Johnson, Leroy Vinnegar and Carl Perkins have blazed new trails in music that have been immortalized in the annals of entertainment history. Many of the great performers of the last century have gone on to glory and the baton has been passed to the next generation of stars. Rob Dixon, Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Fame inductee, superbly represents that next generation. In his new compact disc Coast to Crossroads, he illustrates that he is very well prepared to continue the level of excellence bequeathed to him by the aforementioned jazz masters. Sit back and listen to this wonderful artist as he invokes the spirits of saxophone greats like Beryl Steiner, David Young, Pookie Johnson and Jimmy Coe. Indiana Avenue jazz excellence continues to sparkle as these new titans of sound mount the bandstands.”
